Spam

So, today this one very odd looking piece of spam got into my inbox (this is just the begining):

The wounded, the sick animals and birds swam to it. Theres a slide about a quarter of a mile over there to the left, hesaid. They will be ofthe pure blood like yourself, Dwayanu, and you shall find mates among the women. I wondered uneasily whether the Uighurs knew of a shorter road and were outflanking me. I had read terror in the eyes of many of the women. …

Of course there was a lot of attachments which probably had the real spam crap, and this text was used only to get past spam filters. Anyway, I found it rather amusing — I guess long gone are the days when spam had (if you were lucky) a bunch of random words that didn’t even make a coherent sentence. :)

  1. I recommend you upgrade to use amavisd-new or maia. Specifically maia. Those types of spam would have been caught. It checks blacklists, spf records, dynamic ip senders, and also checks those attachments.

  2. I use spamassassin and it filters out most. If I really tried, and actually configured it properly, it would probably be flawless :) One quick thing about SPF..I think they are evil. There are a lot of people that think the same way, so I suggest you google for the reasons if you don't know and want to know. Thanks for the tip anyway ;)

  3. Hello Jeff I hope you do not mind me contacting you regarding your post: Copy Jeff 01/08/06 The wounded, the sick animals and birds swam to it. I wondered uneasily whether the Uighurs knew of a shorter road and were outflanking me. I had read terror in the eyes of many of the women. … ----- I have also received similiar email messages like this (with bizarre attachments) my last one was similiar to the above. I googled the word Dwayanu and find the text comes from 'Dwellers in the Mirage' an on line ebook. I have a hunch that these emails are beyond the normal spam and I have been studying them (albeit in perplexity) along with the attachments. I have a theory but I might be laughed at .. however, the emails I have received have a 'psychic' quality too them. I have received a total to-date of 12, the first four were 'psychic' pertaining to me. The rest is like above from various on-line literature. I belong to a metaphysics forum and one member has spoken about receiving this sort of email but hers was related to the Yoga principle. Jeff, I can understand if you think I am totally looney (which i am lol) and do not want to correspond further. I am curious about this though and welcome any honest comments that you might have. It is also interesting that you know computers (from just reading this page) and hope you might be able to add that input. My mails are received from around the world but often the com. address does not exist. Well, thank you for the time and I hope I am not infringing on your privacy and mind space my sending this. My regards Caryn South Africa audioptics@mweb.co.za

  4. Oops, I forgot to add that I came across your post when I goggled the word Dwayanu. It was amongst the above literature cache pages. Although most off the search took me to a on-line gambling site. (even more bizarre but it furthers my 'working' theory). Right, now you think I'm totally mad - I'll await your reply either here or my address supplied, only if it suits you though to do so.
